KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — He has citizenship in the U.S., but a federal prosecutor argued Tuesday that an engineer accused in a nuclear espionage case owes his pay, his profits and his familial ties to China. Assistant U.S. Attorney Charles Atchley Jr. sought at a hearing Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Knoxville to keep Szuhsiung "Allen" Ho behind bars pending trial on charges he was procuring American nuclear know-how for China that the country was forbidden to access. Atchley argued that while Ho, who was born in Taiwan, is a naturalized citizen of the U.S. and has a home in Delaware, he spends most of his time in China, is employed by the Chinese government and has funneled $3 million through a Chinese bank during the conspiracy of which he is accused. ...
